Annapolis Maryland's Meg Murray is one of the most versatile singers of her generation. From R&B, Jazz and Soul, to Rock n Roll & Blues, to Country and Folk, Meg has a huge range as a vocal artist and large body of work that showcases her great songwriting and classic voice.

Formerly the lead singer of the Mid-Atlantic R&B/funk band NON-FICTION and the SAW Award winning acoustic duo AUGUST WEST, the WAMMIE nominated Murray has worked with GRAMMY winner hip-hop producer Timbaland (Missy Elliott, Aliyah, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani)) on a major label production.

After her contract expired with no major deal, Murray returned to Annapolis to work with TODD KREUZBURG to produce her fourth album READY.

READY is a collection of song demos she released in November 2002 on her own label, Girl Island Productions. The R&B and Soul styles of the 70's is evident in the lyrics & melodies on READY, while the production of this record is unmistakably modern.

AUGUST WEST

Good ol' fashioned rock-n-roll songs, add a little bit of country, with a dash of bluegrass and a lot of soul, and you have AUGUST WEST . The duo of Steve Lowe & Meg Murray built their following in the bars of Annapolis MD and Baltimore's Fells Point with entertaining live shows full of strong songwriting and great harmonies.

Lowe and Murray have been nominated for WAMMIES (Washington Area Music Awards) and are winners of The Songwriters Association of Washington (SAW) Songwriting Contest for "Bishop St.", "Face Into The Wind", and "Come to Me" which are all included on their first CD release in 1996 BISHOP STREET.

JONES STATION SESSIONS is the latest CD (2004) from the band which includes old August West favorites that were previously unreleased, plus some great new songs written by both Steve and Meg during their 8 year hiatus. The band toured extensively from 2004-05 playing from New York City to Annapolis Md.

TIPTON was the story of Billy Tipton, a woman who dressed like a man in the 1940's to get work in jazz bands. More than just a tale of gender intrigue, the play was also a bittersweet love story. The production of "TIPTON" by Kellee Van Aken went on to become one of the most acclaimed productions in Pittsburgh Pa. in 1995 at The Flying Pig Theatre.

Meg Murray sang the vocals for the jazz project co-written and produced by JEFF MULLER (Jes Grew, Eva Cassidy, Rich Chorne, Karl Straub) and the music of the play is now being re-released in CD form, with 5 original songs from the play, and an extra bonus track, also written by Jeff Muller and sung by Meg Murray, called "Carolina Whisper" from the CD JES GREW.
